Annette N. Shelby Park
Almon Associates, Inc. was contracted to provide engineering design and developed contract documents for an English style park at the location of the former Stafford Elementary School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The park design was anchored by a multiuse fountain area. The park also includes a new parking lot, walking paths, restroom building, landscaping, area lighting for the parking lot, water and sewer service, and many other amenities.
University of Alabama New Residence Halls
Almon Associates provided structural design, civil engineering services, and construction administration services for a 380,000 square foot, $31 million dormitory and community center at The University of Alabama. Located on a 25-acre site, Almon provided design of a four-lane roadway through the site, a site grading plan, facility parking, site staking plan, erosion control plan, storm drainage design, sanitary sewer design, water main design, including fire line through the site. The structural system for the facility was wood frame. Design also included a 300 foot pedestrian bridge. Almon coordinated with the Owner, Architects, and Project Manager during the design phase. Services during construction included construction oversight, field staking and coordination with the contractor.
SR-77 Relocation
Almon Associates was contracted by the Alabama Department of Transportation to provide the design for the relocation of SR-77 for 4 miles of roadway South of Talladega through the National Forest. This project included abandoning parts of the old SR-77 which was given back to the National Forestry Service. National Forestry roads had to be reconnected to the new route and a trailhead parking facility was modified. The construction costs for the project were approximately $11.2 million.
